There´s no truth in it

Carthaginians used war elephants against the Romans in the Battle of Zoma in 202 B.C., as seen in this 1890 painting by Henri-Paul Motte. 

They tried to leave a message where they were, didn´t they?

Please, please, tell me what they did and why they tarried.

My soul rests under a loud noise, it claims the truth, do you see?

News come and go, they bring shame, fear, I can´t breathe now.

The days pass by, we have nothing to lose, but I´m still here.

Uncovering old memories, I have to say: my past has no glory.
